About Us
Books for Babies is a program that provides new babies with free, developmentally appropriate board books to take home from the hospital. Along with the board book, caregivers receive an information pamphlet about the importance of reading aloud with young children and tips on how to read to their babies.
Our Mission
Our mission is to foster a love of reading into children, in order to boost literacy, school readiness and later life success.
Our History
Books for Babies was an idea inspired by Ellie Hiser and implemented in 2022. She developed a love for this project at a young age because of her passion for reading and desire to help others. Ellie learned some children don’t have books in their homes when her mother volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). It was through this work that Ellie learned how great the need was for kids to have access to books and reading.
She brought her idea to Bryan Health. They then partnered with CHI Health and the Lincoln City Libraries to bring the program to life.
